No More Final Thoughts, Please.

If one is not informed, one should not speak.

Conservative TV Host Tomi Lahren should not speak. EVER.

The story goes something like this…

Following the “controversial” Super Bowl halftime segment of Beyonce, the 23-year-old host took to her Final Thoughts with Tomi Lahren broadcast to share her interesting perspective on what she says was an “offensive” performance.

In a live broadcast, Tomi said that she was offended and had an issue with the performance’s tribute to the Black Panthers, a terrorist group as she refers to them.  She went on to say that before an entertainer, in this case Beyonce, decides to highlight adversities facing African Americans (i.e. police brutality) , one should focus on the rising presence of black-on-black crime, using the example of Jay Z’s drug dealing past.

What does one have to do with the other you ask? We’re still waiting on the answer.

Following her final thoughts, which should forever remain final, Tomi received backlash from many. However, no backlash was to compare to the one delivered by popular radio host of The Breakfast Club, Charlamagne The God.

In his daily Donkey of the Day segment, Charlamagne not only dissected everything wrong with her final thought but he effectively educated her on what she clearly knew nothing about.

Check out the full read below.

Fast forward to today when Tomi invited Charlamagne on her show to pretty  much, agree to disagree. In a seventeen minute heated dispute, Charlamagne delivered insightful information on the inspiration behind the Black Panthers and Black Lives Matter Movement  while Tomi explained her perspective, remaining adamant and at times defensive from beginning to end. Jesus, take the wheel!

Take a look at the heated exchange below and share with us your thoughts.

After viewing the video, here are our thoughts:

1. Beyonce’s performance highlighted the pride African Americans possess. The same pride that so many desire for us to lack. The same pride that encourages us to love ourselves for the phenomenal beings that we are. Heck, even James Brown told us to “Say it loud! I’m black and I’m proud!” After all, if we don’t take pride in ourselves, who will?

2. Tomi’s inability to recognize or properly define the inspiration and/or mission of the Black Panthers or Black Lives Matter Movement is even more of a reason to receive Donkey of the Day. It’s disheartening to witness a 23-year-old journalist use her platform to misinform and potentially sway the opinions of her viewers. If Tomi is not going to do her due diligence then at least her producers should.

3. What does Jay Z have to do with this? So what he used to sell drugs to provide, how is that related to Beyonce’s performance or the Black Panthers Movement? The past of a now very successful entertainer and entrepreneur does not excuse the behaviors of police brutality or your ignorance of the Black Lives Matter/ Black Panthers Movements.

4. Last but certainly not least, going forward do us all a favor and educate yourself on what it is that you wish to speak of in your final thoughts. Because you so adamantly believe that a non-violent-but-will-get-violent-if-needs-be unity group equals a terrorist group, perhaps you should tune into PBS tonight for their special The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution, 9pm, EST. You’re welcome.
